Chena cultivation is one of the oldest farming systems in Sri Lanka, over 5,000 years old. It’s all about growing with the land, not against it. Instead of using chemicals or heavy machinery, we follow the rhythm of the seasons and the wisdom of traditional methods.
Our little Chena plot is where ancient tradition meets quiet, steady work.

Here, we grow vegetables, greens, grains, and spices using rain-fed farming and compost from the land. Nothing fancy, just thoughtful, low-impact agriculture the way it’s been done for generations.
If you’re curious, you’re welcome to join us in the fields; planting seeds, watering, harvesting, or simply learning by watching. We’ll show you how the villagers used to share responsibilities and care for the land together. It’s quiet, grounding work, and there’s something special about seeing your own food come up from the soil.
