Cooking classes

Fresh ingredients, open fire, and food made with care.

If you’d like to learn how to cook a traditional Sri Lankan meal, you’re welcome to join us in the kitchen, but first, we head to the garden.

You’ll start the morning with a slow walk through our Chena, harvesting fresh vegetables, herbs, and spices straight from the land. Whatever’s growing that day becomes the heart of the meal.

Back at the open-air kitchen, we’ll show you how to prepare everything the traditional way; chopping by hand, cooking in clay pots, and letting the fire do its quiet work.

You’ll learn how spices are used to balance flavour, heat, and nutrition, and you’ll leave with a better understanding of how simple ingredients, treated with care, can become something special.

Once the food’s ready, we’ll sit down together in the restaurant overlooking the lake and the banyan tree, and enjoy the meal the way it’s meant to be: shared, slow, and full of flavour.
