Wilpattu National Park

Just down the road from one of Sri Lanka’s oldest and wildest places.

Only 15 km from the lodge, Wilpattu National Park is one of the country’s most remarkable natural areas, vast, quiet, and full of hidden life. Known for its leopard population, Wilpattu is also home to sloth bears, elephants, deer, crocodiles, and an incredible range of bird species.

It’s not the kind of place where you’re guaranteed to see everything all at once. Sometimes you’ll spot a leopard in the shade just after dawn; other times, you’ll go hours with only birdsong and the sound of wind through the trees. That’s part of the magic, it’s still wild.

We can help arrange a visit to the park, with trusted local guides who know the land and the animals well. Early morning safaris are usually the most rewarding, but each trip is a little different depending on the season and the day.

For many of our guests, it’s a highlight, not just for what you might see, but for the chance to witness nature on its own terms.
